Long before they became a summer staple, fisherman sandals belonged to the people who lived and worked by the shore. Mediterranean fishermen needed footwear that could handle getting soaked and dry quickly - so the leather was woven open, the toes left free to breathe, and the straps cut to stay secure on wet decks and slippery stones. There was nothing unnecessary about them. Just leather, a buckle, and the hands of someone who knew how to weave each strip. The technique was passed down from one generation to the next, the same way truly well-made things usually are.
That is the spirit we kept alive. Our fisherman-style sandal is still made the slow way - from vegetable-tanned leather, produced in small batches in Portugal, with nothing more than the foot truly needs. A sandal with sea salt in its history and soil beneath its feet.
The magic behind the pattern construction. This sandal pattern, built on the same last used for our MIRA collection, was adjusted step by step until it fit perfectly on the foot. The heel has exactly the right height, without causing discomfort while walking. The insole is thin, yet soft and comfortable, while the strap across the instep never restricts movement when bending the foot. The leather may squeak during the first wears - this is completely natural for genuine vegetable-tanned leather. Over time, it softens beautifully and the sound disappears on its own. We recommend hydrating the leather occasionally with a shoe cream or wax to keep it beautiful for many years.

How to measure your feet:
1. Place a sheet of paper next to the wall. Place your foot (without socks) on the paper with the heel against the wall and trace its outline with the pen held perfectly vertically.
2. Draw a line from the middle of the heel to the longest point of the contour and measure it (this is the length of the contour - line a in the picture).
3. Draw a line from the base of the thumb (next to the mount) to the base of the little finger and measure it (this is the width of the outline - line b in the picture).
4. Measure the circumference as in the picture and write it down.
Choosing sizes for children:
Please keep in mind that every 6 mm is approximately one size, so 12 mm is the equivalent of approx. 2 sizes! For children under 18 months, especially if they are taking their first steps, the shoes must be a maximum of 7 mm larger - 5 mm is recommended - and for children over 2 years old who already walk easily, we suggest ordering slippers with 7-10 mm bigger.
*Our shoes are handmade. Thus, size differences of up to 2 mm may occur.
We care a lot about the crafting process for each pair of Lang.S/Tikki shoes and equally about every step you take in maintaining them. Here is a list of instructions to follow if you want your beautiful shoes to last you longer and better:

Avoid washing them in machines: washing your shoes in machines can damage the material and structure. Try to maintain your shoes as new only by cleaning them locally, manually, with the products recommended by us.

Dry them properly: after cleaning, shoes should be allowed to dry slowly at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators, hair dryers or direct sunlight. All of these can deform or damage the shoes.

Use proper cleaning products: try to only use specialized cleaning products. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach or any solvent-based products, they can irreversibly harm the shoes.

Cleaning your shoes regularly: clean them regularly to remove dirt and prevent long-term accumulation. For leather shoes, use a special brush or cloth, and for textile shoes, a gentle hand wash would be more appropriate.

Protect your pairs from harsh conditions: avoid exposing shoes to extreme conditions like excessive heat or moisture, both can lead to material damage or ungluing of the soles.

Store them correctly: a cool, dry place will do just fine. Avoid cramped conditions which can misshape them. Maybe you could put them away in boxes?

Alternate wearing: Rotate your shoes regularly to allow them to air out, which helps prevent odors or/and moisture buildup.

Care for suede shoes? Here is a tip: clean them gently with a soft cloth or a specially designed suede brush. Don’t do it too often, though. Only when dirt builds up because suede is a delicate material.

Avoid rough surfaces: be cautious of walking on abrasive surfaces that can scratch or scuff the soles and upper part of the shoes. Unfortunately, the warranty does not cover damage resulting from poor roads, footpaths or pavements, or from using the footwear on other rough, abrasive or corrosive surfaces.

Our footwear is not suitable for extreme sports activities, on vehicles or bicycles without pedals. We recommend you avoid them while wearing us.
